Haier Europe donates washers and dryers to a new laundromat for the homeless in Sicily

Our partnership with Procter & Gamble is ongoing, and following Turin and Naples, we are delighted to inaugurate a new “Pope Francis“ laundromat service for the poorest and most homeless people in Catania.

The initiative is conceived and proposed by Procter & Gamble, carried out thanks to the involvement of the Pope Charity Office, the Community of Sant’Egidio and the collaboration of Haier Europe.

“It is an honor for Haier Europe to be able to contribute to such a significant initiative that wishes to restore dignity to so many people through small gestures. We thank the Community of Sant’Egidio and Procter & Gamble for continuing to involve us in this journey that has already touched so many Italian cities, and we hope that the new laundromat service can become a point of reference for the Catania community,” stated Karim Bruneo, Haier Europe Corporate Communication Director.

Managed by the Community of Sant’Egidio, the laundromat is equipped with washers and dryers donated by Haier Europe and will be constantly stocked with laundry detergents and hygiene cleaning products offered by P&G.

The service is offered free to the poorest people, especially the homeless, who on these premises can wash and dry their clothing, clothes, and blankets.

The laundromat service in Catania thus joins those opened in Turin in 2023 and Naples last January.
